Aphasia Neurologist Checkup 2025

I attended my annual appointment with Carey Celeta Gosselin, CRNP, to review my progress following my stroke and discuss aphasia management. We focused on language exercises and decided not to join the aphasia clinic at Penn, as I am already involved with several groups, including Penn State, Penn, and Temple. Carey mentioned starting at Penn in May of this year. During our conversation, we connected over shared interests in athletics—my experience with soccer at Penn State and Carey’s background in Track & Field at Penn. I encouraged Carey to visit my website detailing my story with Penn State Track & Field and shared the story of Marie Leclair. We also discussed attending the Penn Relays, noting that Carey’s husband, Matt Gosslin is a coach for the women’s Track & Field team.

When I got home, I searched for Carey Gosselin online and found out she was a runner in the 1500 Meter and Mile events. Learning this gave me a new perspective on our earlier discussion about athletics, and it also deepened our shared bond through conversations about language and aphasia.
